We at WorkSite often get asked the question, "Should I wear a back brace?" It is our opinion that unless you have been given a direct order from your physician to wear a brace, that you not become accustomed to wearing one*. Often times, people who are in a field of work that requires a lot of heavy lifting, will wear a standard back support or brace. Wearing a back brace has been studied. NIOSH found wearing one does not prevent injury to the back, reduce the severity of injury or make an injury heal faster.
